Françoise Hélène Jourda

“Let us not close our eyes.

Let us not be afraid to face the truth.

Our world is changing dramatically.

The balance hangs on a delicate thread.

Globalization, liberal extremism and raging competition are the cause for many insecurities.

The expression of contemporary architecture bears witness to this: the deconstruction and fragmentation of established objects, Moebius-geometry, the splintering of organic forms...

Searching for a balance serves as a counterpoint. The attempt to find solid ground to establish a balance. The purity of form, the transparency or the assimilation into surroundings.

These questions alone are not the only subjects of literary analysis. They place the architect in the center of his art form. Witness to his time and culture.

It mirrors his view of the world, be it desperate, glorious or opposing. As a higher art form it cannot be seen as nothing more than the act of building.” Françoise Hélène Jourda

We say farewell to Françoise Hélène Jourda.

With her, we have lost a role-model and a colleague who – with her modesty, sympathy and her humour – will always remain present. As a mentor, not only did she bring us closer to the dialogue between culture and the environment, but above all she showed us how we can learn from one another. The encounter with her was always built on mutual respect and empathy. With her clarity and willpower she set an example in her attitude that has influenced us greatly. On this path she was a companion to us who always placed the sense of community between us at the centre of her attention.

We miss her.
